It Is Unacceptable to Force People to Evacuate to Unsafe Areas – Borrell

According to international law, Israel is obligated to ensure the safety of the residents of Rafah, wrote Josep Borrell, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, on his X page. Borrell stated that it is unacceptable to force people to evacuate to unsafe areas.

“We continue to call on Israel not to carry out ground operations in Rafah,” the official emphasized, noting that it would exacerbate the humanitarian crisis.

The Israeli army has ordered residents to evacuate from the eastern neighborhoods of the city. Yesterday, it was reported that around 300,000 residents have already moved to a safer area proposed by Israel.

In the morning, reporters also began leaving the camp used by the media, which was located in the area of a hospital operating with Kuwaiti assistance in Rafah.

Despite pressure from the U.S. and humanitarian organizations on Israel to refrain from attacking Rafah, the Israeli Prime Minister insists that the units of Hamas (designated a terrorist organization in the U.S. and the EU) entrenched there must be destroyed.

Approximately one million Palestinians had sheltered in Rafah from other areas of the Gaza Strip.
