Assault and Stabbing in Lori Region: One Injured
On May 11, a stabbing incident occurred in the Lori region. Around 5:50 PM, operational information was received at the Lori regional police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia that a citizen stabbed with a knife had been transported to the 'Tashir' medical center.
According to shamshyan.com, a police operational group has been dispatched to the hospital. At the scene, doctors informed the police that the injured person had been admitted with a diagnosis of a 'severe abdominal stab wound' and is currently in surgery.
Police have identified the victim as 23-year-old Yervand M. from Lori region, whose relatives reported that he sustained the injury after falling accidentally on a bottle.
Confirmed operational information stated that on May 11, a celebration of 33-year-old Hovhannes M.'s birthday took place at one of the pavilions in the village of Katnarat, attended by residents of Lori region: 30-year-old Mntzakan B., 23-year-old Edgar M., 28-year-old Markos K., 31-year-old Samvel K., Yervand M., and 33-year-old Valodya K.
During the celebration, around 4:30 PM, a dispute erupted between Edgar M. and Valodya K. Attendees intervened to calm them down; however, as the individuals involved were under the influence of alcohol, they began to pull at each other. During this struggle, Markos K. stabbed Yervand M. multiple times in different parts of his body, causing bodily harm.
The police are taking measures to locate Markos K. and the knife used in the crime. Documentation regarding the incident has been prepared at the Tashir police department and transferred to the Lori regional investigation department of the Investigation Committee of Armenia, where a criminal case has been initiated.
