Egypt Refuses to Coordinate Aid to Gaza Through Rafah Crossing with Israel

Egypt has refused to coordinate the delivery of aid to Gaza through the Rafah crossing with Israel due to "unacceptable escalation," reported the Egyptian state satellite channel Alqahera News, citing a senior official.

The official also stated that Egypt holds Israel responsible for the deterioration of the situation in Gaza.

Israeli forces captured the main border crossing at Rafah on May 7, effectively closing the vital route for aid to the besieged enclave.

The UN and other international aid agencies have stated that the closure of two crossings in southern Gaza, Rafah and the Israel-controlled Kerem Shalom, has practically cut off the enclave from external assistance, leaving very few shops operational inside.

Sources from the Red Crescent in Egypt have reported that supplies have been completely halted.
