Change in Traffic Light Operation Mode at Intersection Causes Concern Among Drivers
Numerous drivers have reported to Auroranews that it seems the operational mode of a traffic light at one of the intersections has changed. According to drivers, the traffic light regulating the flow of vehicles from Arshakunyats Avenue to Agathangeghos Street no longer functions; traffic in that direction is no longer permitted as the section has been closed, allowing passage only when the light is green, a shift from the previous continuous green signal.
In a conversation with Auroranews, a representative from the Yerevan Transport Department, which oversees traffic light operations, confirmed the news. “Drivers are right; a change occurred three days ago, but this is not a change in traffic organization, which is why no announcement was made. The section from Arshakunyats to Agathangeghos previously had a constant green light, while vehicles descending from Agathangeghos would sometimes encounter each other head-on while making left turns, leading to situations where they needed to yield but often did not. Now, the green light has been clearly defined; from now on, drivers must stop and yield to those making left turns. This has significantly improved safety in traffic management,” the representative stated.
