Brussels to Allocate 3 Billion Euros from Frozen Russian Assets to Ukraine

EU diplomats have agreed to utilize the revenues generated from frozen Russian state assets to assist Ukraine. This will enable the war-affected country to receive approximately 3 billion euros by summer for the purchase and restoration of weapons.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022, 210 billion euros worth of assets from Moscow's central bank have been frozen within the alliance, primarily at Belgium's Euroclear depository.

According to Euronews, the deal was "principally" agreed upon during a recent meeting of national representatives in Belgium, which currently holds the presidency of the EU Council negotiations.
