Shooting Occurs at Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan Border
A shooting incident occurred on Tuesday at the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, as reported by the press center of the Kyrgyz Border Service to RIA Novosti.
According to a representative of the press center, an incident involving the use of firearms took place in the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border.
At noon, a Kyrgyz border patrol noticed Tajik citizens, shepherds, grazing livestock on Kyrgyz territory, around 250-300 meters from the state border. The Tajik citizens ignored the border guards' demand to leave Kyrgyz territory and even began throwing stones at the soldiers.
To prevent further escalation of the situation, the border guards of the Kyrgyz Republic fired warning shots into the air, after which the shepherds fled back into Tajik territory.
According to the press center, there were no casualties among the Kyrgyz border guards. Unconfirmed reports suggest that one Tajik citizen was injured in the leg, but circumstances surrounding the injury, including how, when, and where it occurred, remain unclear; Tajik enforcement officials have only provided a photo.
The border service explained that a meeting between the border representatives of both sides is expected soon. Currently, the situation at the border is stable.
