Azerbaijan's Parliament Proposes Inviting Pashinyan to Baku
Azerbaijani parliamentarians have proposed inviting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Baku. This idea was voiced by Zahid Oruj, the chairman of the Human Rights Permanent Commission of Azerbaijan's parliament, during a plenary session held today in the Milli Majlis.
According to Oruj, "Pashinyan can be invited to Baku. At the same time, the road to Azerbaijan should be closed to all those who are our political enemies and call for sanctions against our country."
Another Azerbaijani MP, Sahib Aliyev, who was born in the Vardenis region, criticized the Armenian Apostolic Church during today's session, claiming it is trying to obstruct the demarcation process. The MP even went so far as to label the Armenian Apostolic Church a "den of terrorists" during his speech.
Member of the Milli Majlis Siyavush Novruzov also stated that Armenians not only oppose the demarcation process but are also attempting, as he put it, to take revenge for the loss of Shusha by inciting Western sanctions against Azerbaijan. "Today, American congressmen or French MPs, who cannot locate Azerbaijan on a map, suddenly started to recognize, say, Azerbaijani judges and demand sanctions against them," Novruzov declared, insisting that, apart from Armenians, journalists and the opposition funded by the West are also working against Azerbaijan, particularly citing the leader of the Popular Front, Ali Kerimli, whom he referred to as a "TikToker."
