We Can Hold Snap Elections Every 10 Months, Win and Bring You in. Simonyan to Opposition

The people of Armenia will decide who is in power, not you, Arthur Khachatryan, it is not Winnie the Pooh, not Robert Kocharyan, not Serge Sargsyan, none of the others. It is the people of Armenia who will make the choice. If they choose someone else, that person will come to lead. If they don’t want you, they will change you. This was stated today by the President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, as he addressed the opposition.

“You talk about snap elections, you are bankrupt. You speak of our unfulfilled obligations, but you have nothing to say, no face to present. You have no face with which you can come forward. You talk among yourselves, saying, ‘Well, don’t show up, they don’t like you, this time don’t act, let’s bring a decent person, let’s present someone with a face.’ You admit that you are not decent. You admit that you aren’t present as political figures or as citizens of Armenia. You come here talking about snap elections, lay down your mandates. Will you lay down your mandates? How much will you fight among yourselves for a position, how far will the noise go? We can hold snap elections every 10 months, win and bring you in. We simply have a cross to bear, we are on a mission,” he said.

Commenting on the processes taking place in the Tavush region, Simonyan stated that they are trying to “secure Armenia on the world map as an independent state, piece by piece.”

“They say they have recognized Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. Yes, because that territorial integrity is interconnected with our territorial integrity. When you say, ‘This is yours, brother, don’t hope for more,’ you fix your territorial integrity with that statement. You say, ‘This is yours, this is mine,’” he added, addressing the opposition, and concluded, “You will not deceive the people and us.”
