Bagrat Archbishop Forgot His Backpack; Without It, He Won't Achieve Success, Says MP

MP Gagik Melkonyan of the ruling Civil Contract party disagrees with claims that the authorities are trembling amidst recent developments. In an interview with NEWS.am, he stated: 'What indicates that the political power is trembling? Just because Bagrat Archbishop comes from Tavush, does that mean the political power is trembling? Nothing will happen because since 2018, these movements exist, those marches exist, closing Baghramyan exists, opening a barbecue place near the Opera exists.'

He pointed out that the opposition has not been able to gather people; 'They closed Baghramyan for months, did everything to gather people, yet no one shows up. Now they come with 40 people alongside the Archbishop. Nikol Pashinyan came from Gyumri with 12 people. Bagrat Archbishop forgot his backpack; he should have taken a backpack. If there’s no backpack, he won’t achieve success.'

'If something is unserious, how can you take it seriously? If people want to lead the country to ruin, what is the seriousness of that? They gathered in Tavush; what did they do? If there were a war there, they would flee this way and our people would still bear the burden of that war. Yes, we need to be serious; finally, we have the danger of losing the country, and we should be afraid of that. Yes, they are being used as a fifth column by a third country—Russia—to drag Armenia into a war,' the MP declared, adding that Bagrat Archbishop is one of Russia's best agents, along with many other clergymen. 'Russia has always had agents in Armenia who still operate. The church has been attached to the KGB. More than half of our clergymen abroad have been KGB agents. They say this themselves; it’s not just us saying it,' he said. Gagik Melkonyan admitted that he has no evidence regarding Bagrat Archbishop, but 'his actions lead to that conclusion.'
