VIDEO: Casualties Rise from China Expressway Collapse
As of the morning of May 2, the number of casualties from the collapse of a section of an expressway in China has reached 36, according to Xinhua.
There are 23 vehicles trapped under the debris of the collapsed bridge.
“As of 5:30 AM (local time, equivalent to 01:30 AM Yerevan time) on May 2, the death toll from the collapse of a section of the expressway in Guangdong province in southern China has reached 36. Additionally, 30 people are hospitalized,” the agency reports, citing local authorities.
The collapse occurred on May 1 at around 2:10 AM local time (April 30 at 10:10 PM Yerevan time) in Meizhou, along the Meizhou-Dabu expressway, which connects Guangdong and Fujian provinces.
