In Some Regions of Russia, Migrants Forbidden to Drive Taxis
In the Kursk region, migrants will not be able to work as taxi drivers, announced Governor Roman Starovoit during an operational headquarters meeting.
"I am signing a decision that prohibits the employment of migrants in taxi services, right here in front of you," he stated. He also noted that similar decisions could be made in other sectors.
Such bans will be discussed in the operational headquarters' meeting tomorrow, Starovoit added, promising to inform if any such decisions are made.
A week ago, the governor conducted a survey on his Telegram channel, inviting opinions on restrictions regarding migrants working in taxis. Eighty-two percent of respondents voted in favor of the ban.
Previously, a similar ban was enacted in the Novosibirsk and Voronezh regions. The restrictions are related to national security, the safety of citizens' lives and health, as well as ensuring the "priority employment of Russian citizens."
