During the April 30 sitting of the National Assembly, Vahagn Aleksanyan, a deputy from the 'Civil Contract' faction, strongly condemned the violence against a journalist from Civic.am by an individual accompanying Levon Kocharyan, a deputy from the 'Armenia' faction.

“I want to strongly condemn the outright violence inflicted upon a journalist by the bodyguard-assistant of the leader of the 'Armenia' alliance, the second president of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, who is widely known among the people as 'Albanian'. This can be described as yet another instance in a series of unprecedented events that are actually occurring. I want everyone to understand well that such phenomena have no place in Armenia, and that the ‘bodyguards’ of some variant of unlearned creatures should not even entertain the thought that they can raise their hands against journalists in Armenia,” he said.

Earlier, we reported that the secretary of the CP faction, Arthur Hovhannisyan, stated that the CP accuses Levon Kocharyan’s assistant of striking a Civic.am journalist and promises to take tough measures. Civic.am reported that Levon Kocharyan’s ‘bodyguard’ struck a Civic.am journalist in the premises of the National Assembly building. He approached our journalist, accused him of 'blasphemy', and then hit journalist Davit Levonyan. It is noted that the journalist had recently accused the bishop of the Tavush region, Bagrat Surbazan, of serving Russian interests during a broadcast on his personal YouTube channel.

Later on, it was revealed that the assailant was Arthur Sukoyan, who constantly accompanies Levon Kocharyan but acts as his 'assistant'.
