Turkey Monitors Developments Related to Azerbaijan, Says Turkish MP

Turkey will closely monitor the developments regarding the agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia concerning the border, welcoming the positive tone, stated Omer Celik, the official representative of the ruling Justice and Development Party in Turkey.

"Regardless of our agenda, we are attentively following issues related to Azerbaijan. The delegations on border matters from Azerbaijan and Armenia have met for the eighth time. A milestone has been installed at the border, albeit symbolically. We welcome the contribution to strengthening peace in the region and the withdrawal from attacks on Azerbaijan. We are monitoring and will continue to monitor the developments, and we appreciate the positive tone," Celik said during a press briefing.

On April 19, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that special commissions from Armenia and Azerbaijan had preliminarily agreed on the transfer of separate segments of the border between eight villages, aligning these segments "with the legally justified inter-republican border that existed at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union." Since April 20, protesters in Armenia have been blocking highways leading to Georgia and Iran, demanding the halt of the border delimitation and the process of transferring adjacent territories to Azerbaijan.
