Nikol Pashinyan to Meet with Residents of Kiran Today in Yerevan
Nikol Pashinyan is set to meet with the residents of Kiran today in Yerevan, according to residents who spoke to NEWS.am. The specific individuals who will be attending the meeting have not been disclosed yet.
It is worth recalling that on April 19, commissions regarding the delimitation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border agreed to begin the delimitation process in the Tavush region. The descriptions of the specified segments of the border will be drafted taking into account the clarification of coordinates resulting from geodetic measurements in the area, which is expected to be completed by May 15, 2024.
The Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia has stated that Azerbaijan will receive 2.5 villages as a result of these developments, while the Republic of Armenia will benefit from a reduction in security risks. In the Kiran area, changes will be made to a several hundred-meter section of the road, while Voskepar will not face road issues.
After the delimitation, armed forces will retreat from segments of four villages and cede their positions to border guards.
Since April 19, residents of the border villages in Tavush have been protesting on the Armenia-Georgia interstate road, opposing the variant of delimitation agreed upon by Yerevan and Baku.
