Over 700 Students Arrested in the U.S. Due to Pro-Palestinian Protests
The wave of pro-Palestinian protests has escalated across the United States following police dismantling of a tent camp at Columbia University on April 19. Since then, law enforcement has arrested more than 700 students nationwide.
This was reported by The New York Times (NYT), which analyzed all official statements from police and departments. It is noteworthy that the war in the Gaza Strip has been ongoing since October 7, when the Palestinian Hamas movement launched attacks on Israeli border areas while simultaneously carrying out mass rocket strikes and taking hostages. In response, Israel declared war on Hamas and initiated ground military operations in the Gaza Strip.
