What Connection Does Former Head of Sisian Division Garik Muradyan Have with the Theft of 36 kg of Gold and 293 Million Rubles?
The newspaper "Joghavor" reports that exclusive information has emerged concerning former head of the Sisian division, Garik Muradyan, who was subjected to torture at the Shengavit division of the Investigative Committee. According to the information we have received, he was questioned in connection with a criminal case regarding the theft of 36 kg of gold and 293 million Russian rubles.
This extraordinary case continues to attract attention, with controversial interrogations ongoing. It has previously been reported that the Investigative Committee questioned Arshak Petrosyan, a judge at the Yerevan city court, as a witness in this case. Moreover, the son-in-law of a so-called ‘thief-in-law’ has come under the scrutiny of law enforcement in this criminal process.
It should be remembered that the RA Investigative Committee officially announced that on April 10, they pursued a vehicle brand 'Hyundai Sonata' using a 'Porshe' model car, and created an artificial obstacle on the Parliamentary Street in the Parakar community of Armavir region between 07:15 and 07:20. They reportedly stopped the mentioned vehicle by threatening to use weapons from the right front window. After stopping the vehicle, those who are suspected of committing the crime, dressed in uniforms resembling those of the National Security Service and masked, exited the vehicle claiming to be employees of the NSS. They used violence with weapons against the three individuals inside the car, forcibly removing them under the pretext of searching for drugs and other prohibited items, cuffed their hands, and then stole 36 kg of gold nuggets with a purity of 999 and bags containing 293 million rubles, applying violence against these individuals, they forced them back into the same vehicle. Using tear gas from the front door, they fled in the 'Porshe' vehicle.
Based on sufficient evidence, charges have been filed against A.S. under Article 319, Part 2, Point 3, Article 252, Part 3, Points 1 and 4, and Article 456, Part 2, Point 1 of the RA Criminal Code. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against a total of 12 individuals, of whom 5 have been remanded in custody as a measure of restraint, while other measures have been applied to 3 individuals, and a decision has been made to arrest 4 people with an instruction given to the police to locate and present them to the prosecuting authority.
