Lilit T.

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has shared a video on Facebook and stated that he answered journalists' questions in Stepanavan. The Prime Minister addressed the agreement reached between Yerevan and Baku.

“Regarding yesterday's announcement, I would first like us to assess the political significance of what happened. I wouldn’t want us to overestimate what happened, but I also wouldn’t want us to underestimate it. It is very important to note that for the first time, Armenia and Azerbaijan have solved a matter at the negotiating table. This is a significant achievement for Armenia as well. In essence, Armenia and Azerbaijan confirmed each other’s territorial integrity through bilateral signatures,” said Pashinyan.

He emphasized that it was also established that during the border delimitation process, a new border would not be created; rather, the legal boundaries that held significance during the Soviet era would be reinstated.

Pashinyan considers yesterday's agreement as a cornerstone for the next phase of Armenia's sovereignty, independence, and development. According to him, this decision will significantly reduce the security issues present in the areas of Kiran, Baghanis, and Voskepar villages, as well as along the entire length of the Armenian border.

Let us recall that after yesterday's meeting of the commissions on border delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, a joint press release was issued stating that preliminary agreements have been reached on the border line sections between Armenia's Baghanis, Azerbaijan's Baghanis-Ayrum, Armenia's Voskepar, Azerbaijan's Asha Askipar, Armenia's Kiran, Azerbaijan's Kheyremli, Armenia's Berqaber, and Azerbaijan's Kizil Hajili villages.
