Boycott Against Restaurants and Cafes Declared in Turkey Today and Tomorrow
Due to rising food prices, residents of Turkey have organized a boycott against cafes and restaurants. Users on social media have come together and decided to refrain from visiting establishments over the weekend (April 20-21), as reported by Sabah.
It is emphasized that according to data from the Optimar center, over 60 percent of respondents consider the economic situation in Turkey and the presence of Syrian refugees to be key issues. The publication notes that citizens have started sharing their receipts on social media. They are advocating for urgent solutions to the lack of oversight in the public food sector.
As mentioned, the reduction in portion sizes has not contributed to a decrease in prices. Earlier, the head of Turkey's Central Bank, Fatih Karahan, stated that inflation in Turkey is expected to reach 36 percent by the end of 2024. He pointed out ongoing plans to maintain strict monetary policy until the indicators show a decline.
