VIDEO: Assaulted Citizen Transferred to Investigative Committee

Days ago, Samvel Vardanyan, who had an altercation with MP Hakob Aslanyan on public transport, was transferred to the Investigative Committee of Armenia. Prior to that, Vardanyan was in the detention facility (DVV), as a criminal case had been opened against him for using foul language towards the MP (allegedly characterized as hooliganism).

Recall that on April 15, a video was circulated online where a young man was shouting obscene remarks at the ruling party MP, leading to a scuffle. It later turned out that this young man was Samvel Vardanyan.

On April 16, lawyer Varazdat Harutyunyan announced that Samvel Vardanyan had been severely beaten. There were traces of grass on his pants around the knees, his forehead and right hand were swollen, and his left eyebrow was injured with signs of bleeding. He also had scratches on his thighs and arms, and had been spat on the face. All this occurred during the transport from the investigative department of Yerevan to the detention facility, while Vardanyan's hands were handcuffed.
