The Presidents of Russia and Iran, Vladimir Putin and Ebrahim Raisi, have discussed in detail the situation in the Middle East following the Israeli strikes and the response measures taken by Iran. This was reported by the Kremlin press service.
"The heightened situation in the Middle East, particularly after the Israeli airstrikes on Iran's diplomatic representation in Damascus, and Iran's corresponding measures, were thoroughly discussed," the statement read.
The Russian President expressed hope that all parties would demonstrate reasonable restraint and prevent a new phase of confrontation that could have catastrophic consequences for the entire region.
The conversation took place at the initiative of the Iranian side.
