Armenia to Receive Assistance from EU Peace Fund for the First Time, Preliminary Agreement Reached
A preliminary agreement has been reached in Brussels regarding the provision of assistance to Armenia from the European Union's Peace Fund. Diplomatic documents available to “Azatutyun” indicate that the EU plans to allocate €10 million to Yerevan, which is to be spent over a period of 30 months.
According to the documents, the funds are intended for the establishment of a field modular camp designed for one battalion, which will include a medical assistance ambulatory, as well as corresponding services and capabilities.
“The purpose of this assistance is to enhance the resilience and capabilities of the armed forces of Armenia to ensure stability, thereby better protecting the civilian population during crises and emergencies,” the document states.
The EU established this fund in 2021, aimed at providing resources for the procurement of non-lethal weaponry or capabilities to promote peace around the world, prevent conflicts, and strengthen international security.
