State Department Denies Reports of Military Document Signed with Armenia in Brussels
The U.S. State Department's press service has responded to claims made by Azerbaijani media suggesting that a military document was signed during the Armenian-European Union-U.S. summit held in Brussels on April 5. Some media outlets even published a photograph of the purported "document." In response to an inquiry from Azertac state agency, the State Department stated that this document is pure disinformation.
"This document is pure disinformation; security issues were not on the agenda. We urge you to review the joint press release with the EU and Armenia regarding the outcomes of the trilateral meeting in Brussels on April 5. The Brussels meeting with the EU and Armenia focused exclusively on Armenia's economic resilience, as the country works on diversifying its trade partnerships and addressing humanitarian needs, as well as supporting Armenia's ongoing reforms, including in areas such as democracy and the rule of law," the State Department stated in response to the inquiry.
It is noteworthy that the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced the previous day that the document published in Azerbaijani media is fake and such issues were not on the agenda of the Brussels meeting.
