Azerbaijan's School Textbooks Teach Children to Hate and Kill Armenians
The Azerbaijani government has cultivated racist hatred towards ethnic Armenians for decades. In Azerbaijan, children are taught in their school textbooks to hate and kill Armenians. State television outlets spread hate speech, and public officials belittle Armenians, calling for their complete eradication.
This was stated by Armenia's representative on international legal matters, Yeghishe Kirakosyan, during today’s session at The Hague, concerning the hearings of the cases "Armenia vs. Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan vs. Armenia." He emphasized that this is state-sanctioned racism, highlighting an environment where a person who stabbed an Armenian during peacetime is celebrated and rewarded as a national hero.
Kirakosyan also discussed the 44-day war, quoting Aliyev’s words that the hatred towards the enemy was what propelled them forward. “For 44 days, Azerbaijani soldiers systematically killed, tortured, and subjected ethnic Armenians to violence, proudly recording themselves showing how they tortured ethnic Armenian civilians and Armenian prisoners of war while simultaneously uttering racial slurs,” noted Kirakosyan.
