Ukraine Begins Blocking TikTok Channels
The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine announced on Monday that it has started to block several TikTok channels that it believes are "disseminators of Russian propaganda."
“The Center for Counteracting Disinformation has begun official cooperation with the administration of the TikTok social network to counter online Russian propaganda,” reads a statement published on the Center's Telegram channel.
The Center has published a list of 83 TikTok channels on its website. This includes channels such as ria_novosti, simonyan.m, russian_rt, sputnik_news, sputnik.by, vesti.ru, tvrussia1, ntvru, nbaskov, fkirkorov, rosgaz, izvestia_ru.
“Currently, the Center is undertaking a number of actions to block the aforementioned pages within Ukraine,” the statement adds.
The RIA Novosti TikTok channel currently has 2.1 million subscribers, simonyan.m has almost 623,000, russian_rt has over 305,000, sputnik_news has 71,000, sputnik.by has nearly 308,000, and vesti.ru has over 663,000.
