Russian Foreign Ministry Calls on Yerevan's Leadership: Do Not Allow the West to Deceive You
Moscow urges Yerevan not to allow the West to deceive it and to lead Armenia down the wrong path. This was stated in a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry regarding a high-level meeting in the Armenia-U.S.-EU format. This was reported by TASS.
"We urge Yerevan's leadership not to let the West deceive it and take the country down a wrong path, fraught with the emergence of a security vacuum, serious economic problems, and the outflow of population," the ministry emphasized.
"Russia views the Armenia-U.S.-EU meeting as the West’s latest attempt to drag the South Caucasus into a geopolitical confrontation," the statement read. The destructive interference of extra-regional powers in the affairs of the South Caucasus can lead to the most negative consequences.
"The West wishes to turn Armenia into a tool for its exceedingly dangerous plans in the South Caucasus," the ministry highlighted.
"We know that Washington and Brussels, under the guise of temporary promises, are seeking to pull Armenia out of the CSTO and EAEU, remove the Russian military base, and border guards," the ministry stated.
