Does the Prime Minister Reject the Term "Genocide"? A Question for the MP from CP

The Prime Minister of Armenia cannot reject the Armenian Genocide. This statement was made today by Arthur Hovhannisyan, the secretary of the Civil Contract faction, during a parliamentary briefing, in response to a journalist's question regarding why the government uses the terms "Great Catastrophe" and "massacre" instead of the word "genocide."

“Do you think the Prime Minister of Armenia rejects the term ‘genocide’? What are you saying? Such a thing cannot be. The people of Armenia are a victimized nation, and several important processes regarding the recognition of the Genocide have taken place under this government,” he stated.

When asked whether he feels he is present in historic Armenia or contemporary Armenia when visiting the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial on April 24, the MP responded that he is not a historical figure and cannot feel himself in any way connected to historic Armenia. “I am a real person, I have a physical existence, I can touch myself, and you can touch me, we are real people living in real Armenia, which has an area of 29,800 km² recognized by the entire world. I cannot feel like a member of some unreal part. Aren’t my compatriots and I guilty for feeling like inhabitants of a territory we are not part of?” he said. “Now, when you walk in Yerevan, where do you feel you are, in Van?” he added.

He urged everyone to focus on the current state, as according to him, for 30 years people have been forced to love the distant and unseen.
