Republicans in the US Congress to Consider Providing Credit Assistance to Ukraine

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson (Republican from Louisiana), has confirmed that the Republican members of the lower chamber of Congress plan to consider providing assistance to Ukraine in the form of a loan. When asked by a Fox News host whether the Republican-controlled lower house of Congress intends to examine the issue of providing loan assistance to Kyiv, as previously suggested by former President Donald Trump, Johnson responded positively.

According to the Speaker of the House, his views on this matter are "100% aligned" with Trump's perspectives. "When it comes to helping Ukraine, he has proposed a loan concept, which I believe is very important and has broad support," Johnson stated.

Additionally, the Speaker indicated that he is exploring the possibility of including provisions in the legislation for the confiscation of assets from 'Russian oligarchs' to be used to support Kyiv. "I think these are ideas that can gain traction, and we are working towards that," Johnson remarked.

Earlier, Trump had stated at a joint press conference with Johnson that the Republican Party is considering the possibility of resuming assistance to Ukraine, but only in the form of loans.
