Before Iran's Attack on Israel, Tehran and Washington Established Contact via Ankara: Turkey's Foreign Ministry
The Turkish Foreign Ministry has announced that before Iran's attack on Israel, Tehran and Washington established contact through Ankara. "Before the incident (the operation against Israel), we connected with the authorities of Iran and the USA and called for moderation through our state. The parties conveyed mutual expectations and messages, and necessary initiatives were implemented to ensure a proportional response," the ministry's statement said.
It was also noted that the Turkish side has made it clear that they are calling on Iranian officials and Western countries that have influence over Israel to halt the escalation. The Ministry reminded that Turkey has "warned its interlocutors that Israel's war in the Gaza Strip carries the risk of expansion and escalation of the conflict zone."
"Israel's attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, contrary to international law, justified these concerns. Iran's response to this attack and the subsequent events once again demonstrated that developments could rapidly escalate into a regional war. We will continue our efforts to prevent developments that will forever harm stability in our region and trigger even greater conflicts on a global level," the ministry stated.
