Armenia's Ministry of Internal Affairs Not Planning to Combat Blinding Headlights on Roads

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia is currently not planning to take action against the blinding headlights of vehicles on the roads.

Taking into account the growing dissatisfaction among the public regarding the intensity of headlights, which often blind oncoming drivers, as well as the absence of regulation over the power of these lights, Sputnik Armenia sent an inquiry to the Ministry of Internal Affairs asking for clarification on the penalties for violators and whether the police intend to enhance control over the situation.

The Ministry clarified that according to the legislation, drivers face fines equivalent to three times the minimum wage (3,000 drams) for violations of external light source regulations and standards (including color, type, location, and operational mode).

The Ministry did not specify whether there will be an increase in control or enforcement measures. In response to a question about statistics on traffic accidents caused by the blinding of drivers by oncoming vehicles, the Ministry stated that they do not keep such statistics.
