Four Oil Wells Flooded in Kazakhstan Due to Flooding
Four oil wells have been flooded in the Atyrau region of Kazakhstan. This was reported by the Industrial Safety Committee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan.
Currently, four boreholes in the Atyrau region are flooded. These boreholes had been deactivated and sealed in a timely manner, according to the committee.
It is noted that the situation in the remaining oil and gas fields in the region is stable and under constant monitoring. Approximately 80% of Kazakhstan's oil reserves are located in the Atyrau region, which hosts major fields such as Tengiz and Kashagan.
A complex situation has arisen in Kazakhstan related to the spring floods in 2024, with a state of emergency declared in 10 regions. The current flooding is the most extensive seen in the last 80 years.
