VIDEO: According to Azerbaijan's Preconception, Armenia Should Not Have a Military Capable of Defending Its Own Country
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the aggressive policies of Azerbaijan towards Armenia during his speech at the National Assembly. He stated that, according to Azerbaijan's preconception, Armenia should not have a military capable of defending its own country.
“Having a capable army is the sovereign right of every country. On the other hand, we also believe that inciting an arms race in the region cannot lead to any good outcome. But the reality is that we do not want to enter into an arms race with Azerbaijan. If Azerbaijan does not think this way, we have a proposal for this situation: to create a mechanism for mutual control of armaments, to carry out mirror withdrawal of troops from the border line, which will address the issues of the 4 villages highlighted by Azerbaijan and our 31 villages. This means demilitarizing border sections and handing over the entire border protection to border troops, while relocating the Ministry of Defense units back to their permanent bases,” said the Prime Minister.
Pashinyan noted that Azerbaijan has not responded to these proposals. “We hope to receive a positive response regarding the 8th revision of the peace treaty, which was transmitted to Azerbaijan on March 14,” he added.
