Why Did a Bear Maul a 33-Year-Old Man? Community Leader Provides New Details

In an interview with ArmTimes, Vardan Sardaryan, the head of the community of Lusahdzor in the Tavush region, provided details regarding the tragic incident in which a man was mauled by a bear. According to the community leader, the incident occurred in the woods far from the village, an area traditionally used for gathering wild herbs.

“This year, the bear had just made a new den, and the man, unaware, approached it too closely. The mother bear, instinctively trying to protect her cubs, attacked him,” he explained, adding that the deceased man leaves behind two children, one in first grade and the other in third grade.
