On April 3, the Lori regional investigatory department of the RA Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under points 5 of part 2 of Article 252 and part 1 of Article 335 of the RA Criminal Code regarding the case of robbery committed by an individual named E against a 17-year-old A. S.
As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, officers from the Lori regional police department collaborated with personnel from the police departments of Taron, Spitak, and Stepanavan to conduct joint operational and investigative measures, resulting in the identification of the suspect as 17-year-old Edgar A. from the Lori region.
On April 4, Edgar A. was located near 60 Zarovar Andranik Street in Vanadzor, arrested, and taken to the Bazum police department. Following explanatory conversations, he confessed that for financial needs, he had previously planned to commit robbery. He took a gas pistol, which he had purchased from a weapon shop, concealed it in his waistband, and on April 3 around 16:00, he ambushed near the VTB bank branch's ATM on Tigran Mets Avenue in Vanadzor.
Edgar A. noticed a young man withdrawing money from the ATM and walking towards the Artsakh park. He pursued the individual, approached him, introduced himself as Edo, and realized the young man was A. S. Under the pretext of a conversation, he lured him into the territory of the Armenia health resort on Zakaryan Street, where he threatened A. S. with the pistol and demanded 120,000 AMD, which he took forcefully. Edgar later used the stolen money to fulfill his financial needs and discarded the pistol.
Edgar A. also informed the police that he could indicate the location where he disposed of the pistol. He has since been presented to the Lori regional investigatory department of the RA Investigative Committee. According to G. Shamshyan's information, Edgar A. is an 11th-grade student at one of the schools in Vanadzor.
