Swedish MP Calls for Continued Support for Armenia Amidst Azerbaijani Aggression

Swedish Parliament member Erik Hellsborn urges the world to keep a close watch on the developments in the South Caucasus, emphasizing that there should be no tolerance for Azerbaijan's escalation of tensions in the region while supporting Armenia.

In a post on his Facebook page, Hellsborn stated, "During the holidays, Azerbaijani military forces again shelled Armenian border positions several times. This behavior seems to betray an intention from the aggressor to display their strength and strategy to provoke a response, which could then be used as a justification for more significant violence. Despite how condemnable this may be, I currently feel a great relief that the situation has not worsened. During a discussion with several colleagues in Parliament on Tuesday regarding the developments, I expressed my fear that Azerbaijan might breach the borders within three days. Thankfully, that did not happen… not yet."

He further added, "The external world must continue to monitor the South Caucasus, support Armenia, and ensure that Azerbaijan's escalation is not tolerated," while also stating, "It is unrealistic to expect that the tyrant Aliyev will show any restraint or moral decency."
