Progress Made in Gaza Peace Talks
Progress has been made during negotiations in Cairo regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, as the parties have reached an agreement on key points, reported Egypt's state-run Al-Kahera television on Monday, citing informed sources.
Negotiations took place on Sunday in Cairo, involving representatives from Egypt, Qatar, the United States, Israel, and Hamas. The television channel also noted that none of the parties have officially confirmed reports of progress in discussions so far.
According to Al-Kahera, delegations from Hamas and Qatar have left Cairo and are expected to return within two days to negotiate the terms of a final agreement, while the delegations from Israel and the United States are set to leave the Egyptian capital within a few hours.
The Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post reported that on Sunday, Hamas reiterated its terms for the agreement, which include a permanent ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, the return of displaced persons, and the exchange of Palestinian prisoners for Israeli captives held in Gaza.
