VIDEO: State of Emergency Declared in 10 Regions of Kazakhstan Due to Widespread Flooding

Floods in Kazakhstan have become the largest in the last 80 years, prompting a state of emergency to be declared in 10 regions of the country, announced President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

“Perhaps this is the biggest disaster in terms of scale and consequences in the last 80 years and more,” he stated in a message directed to the public aired on Kazakh television.

Tokayev noted that local emergencies have been declared in 10 regions of the country due to the flooding. He mentioned that the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Armed Forces, and all forces of the National Security Committee have been mobilized to combat the disaster.
