Iveco Transporting Several Tons of Liquid Gas Overturns, Driver Dies on Scene
A tragic car accident occurred today, April 7, in the Tavush region. Around 08:30, a 52-year-old resident of Kotayk, Armen Abrahamyan, driving an Iveco vehicle transporting liquid gas, overturned on the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan highway at the first bend of Dilijan under still unknown circumstances, according to shamshyan.com.
As reported, the driver died on the spot from the accident. A rescue team from the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Emergency Situations Service arrived at the scene with one fire service unit from Dilijan.
Due to the collision, gas began leaking from the vehicle's tank, and the road has been restricted to one-way traffic. Firefighters retrieved the driver’s body from the vehicle and took it to a stretcher.
Following the incident, a criminal investigation has been initiated by the investigative department in Dilijan. Police have cordoned off the area, and firefighting teams have carried out road washing operations. By order of the investigator, the vehicle will be moved to a secured area of the Dilijan police department.
