Video: How Rescuers Evacuate Animals During Flood in Orsk
Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations assist animals during the flood in Orsk. The ministry has shared footage from the scene on its Telegram channel.
“Unfortunately, not all residents can take their pets with them. EMERCOM rescuers hear cries for help from a distance,” explained officials from the ministry.
Rescuers are pulling wet animals out of houses in their arms, helping all creatures from cats to large dogs.
It should be noted that on April 5, the flood in Orsk breached the dam. A state of emergency has been declared in the city, and residents of nearby houses are being evacuated to temporary shelters. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are on-site.
The Orenburg administration has reported that the water level of the Ural River is approaching a dangerous level of 930 centimeters due to the flood. According to the regional prosecutor's office, Gostekhnadzor previously identified violations in the maintenance of the structure.
In March 2024, employees of the supervisory authority sent a warning to the mayor's first deputy of Orsk about the inadmissibility of violating the law aimed at protecting the population from man-made emergencies. However, no measures were taken to rectify the situation.
A criminal case has been initiated under the articles “Violations during construction work safety regulations” and “Negligence.” Orenburg region governor Denis Pasler has decided to double payments to those affected by the flood.
