The US Calls on Armenia to Seek a Final Agreement with Azerbaijan: James O'Brien
The US is urging Armenia to strive for a final settlement with Azerbaijan. This was stated by James O'Brien, the Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, to reporters in Brussels, discussing the outcomes of a trilateral summit held in the Belgian capital, which included the Prime Minister of Armenia, the US Secretary of State, and the President of the European Commission.
“The meeting focused on ongoing reforms in Armenia, but we have, of course, called on Armenia to continue the path toward peace and to seek a final agreement with Azerbaijan,” said the American official.
“The Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement is the best way to ensure regional security and prosperity. In particular, it will allow for the opening of new trade routes from the Mediterranean region to Central Asia,” he added.
