A Strong and Stable Armenia Means a Stronger and More Stable South Caucasus: Borrell

The European Union aims to develop a positive agenda for Armenia and, by joining forces with the United States, demonstrate a strong commitment to the country's sovereignty, democracy, and resilience. This was stated by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell during a press conference ahead of the trilateral meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Brussels.

According to the correspondent of "Armenpress" in Brussels, the high representative recalled that two months ago, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and he agreed to work on a new agenda for EU-Armenia partnership. He emphasized that the new agenda will provide an ambitious vision to promote bilateral cooperation in areas critical for Armenia's resilience, mobility, trade diversification, and connectivity.

Josep Borrell assured that these are not just words of support. “We welcome Armenia’s efforts towards democracy, combating corruption, and establishing the rule of law. It will be important to continue reforms to further enhance the country’s resilience. The EU will continue to support reform efforts through the implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement,” noted the EU high representative.

Borrell highlighted that a strong and stable Armenia means a stronger and more stable South Caucasus, which will benefit all countries in the region.
