We Are Committed to the Relationship Normalization Process with Azerbaijan: Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan began his speech at a press conference ahead of a trilateral meeting in Brussels with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen by expressing gratitude to his partners for their collective commitment to a sovereign, resilient, and prosperous Armenia. According to an Armenpress correspondent in Brussels, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of this trilateral meeting, calling it an expanding partnership with the United States and the EU.

“Not content with the progress achieved, we will discuss Armenia’s efforts to strengthen the resilience of democratic institutions. We are convinced that respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms is the basis of our cooperation. The Republic of Armenia reaffirms its commitment to advancing justice and public sector reforms to build a stronger, safer, and more progressive country,” Pashinyan stressed.

In his speech, the Prime Minister noted that based on effective political cooperation, it is the right time to advance economic cooperation, enhance trade, and expand partnerships in the mobility sector. “We are determined to raise the competitiveness of Armenia's private sector to enter new markets. Furthermore, we are ready to improve our investment environment and make it more attractive for European and American companies. We expect our partners to assist us in modernizing Armenia’s quality infrastructure, building business networks, and exploring possible schemes for trade facilitation,” Prime Minister Pashinyan stated.

Addressing the needs of over 100,000 Armenians forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of restoring their dignified lives through housing and economic activation policies.

Speaking about the normalization of relations with Azerbaijan, Nikol Pashinyan once again reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to the process based on mutual recognition of each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, in accordance with the 1991 Alma-Ata declaration. He added that Armenia is also fully committed to delimiting borders based on the Alma-Ata declaration and to unblocking all regional communications, which is based on the full respect of the principles of sovereignty and jurisdiction, equality, and reciprocity.
