8.5 Million Dollars for Displaced Persons from Nagorno-Karabakh: USAID

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) plans to allocate approximately $8.5 million for meeting the housing needs and providing psychosocial support for individuals forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and refugees. Erin McKean, assistant administrator of USAID’s Europe and Eurasia bureau, announced this during a press conference reported by Armenpress.

“We have come together here to reaffirm our efforts to support a democratic and prosperous Armenia and our ongoing commitment to the democracy, economic stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Armenia. The U.S. Secretary of State announced this morning new and substantial support of over $65 million to promote democracy, energy independence, food security, and economic integration. We are pleased to continue our cooperation with the Armenian government to strengthen such hard-earned successes,” emphasized McKean.

According to her, following the events in Nagorno-Karabakh in the autumn of 2023, the U.S. Agency for International Development plans to allocate approximately $8.5 million for addressing the housing needs and psychosocial support for displaced persons and refugees. “With this funding, USAID will collaborate with national and local governments, as well as non-governmental organizations, to demonstrate to the people of Armenia that their democracy is yielding its fruits. USAID will ensure that the needy have access to public services, assisting the Armenian government in disseminating information about these opportunities,” she noted.
