28 Embassies Closed in Israel: Reason Revealed
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to close its diplomatic representations in 28 countries following threats from Iran to respond to an attack on its consulate in Damascus, reports Sky News Arabia.
The Israeli Bhol portal has reported the closure of several embassies, citing its sources. A source from the portal stated that diplomats from certain embassies have been asked not to come to their workplaces. Ynet has also reported on this issue.
The decision comes after Israel struck Iranian consulate premises in Damascus. A spokesperson for the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Lior Hayat, told RBC that the ministry does not comment on the safety of its diplomats. Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry has stated that it is not addressing the security of diplomatic representations, according to the Srugim portal. An Israeli Foreign Ministry representative denied the reports regarding the closure of embassies to RIA Novosti.
