VIDEO: Strong Storm in Russia Leaves Casualties and Injuries
In Moscow, two people have died and 15 others have been injured due to a violent storm. This information was provided by the city's mayor, Sergey Sobyanin. According to reports from RIA Novosti, the weather changed abruptly on Wednesday as winds reached speeds of 21 meters per second.
“The wind gusts exceeded 21 m/s. We promptly took all necessary measures for public awareness. Major city parks and other open public areas were swiftly closed. Alerts regarding the danger were broadcast on city screens, on the notification boards of the Center for Traffic Management (CTM), among others. Unfortunately, there have been fatalities. 17 people were injured, two of whom have died,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
He noted that all the injured are receiving necessary medical assistance. City services are working rapidly to eliminate the aftermath of the bad weather.
According to RIA Novosti, one person died when a heavy object fell from a building on Wilhelm Pieck Street in the northeastern administrative district. Another victim was a worker who lost his life when a fence element fell from a height at a construction site, as reported by the Moscow Prosecutor's Office.
