VIDEO: 'Goy' Actors Camped Outside Theatre Entrance as Sit-in Protests Continue
Sadly, neither the staff nor the management of the Sundukyan theatre, nor anyone from the ministry has come. This indicates that they are not interested in the existence of the 'Goy' theatre, which means they are not concerned; that's a fact.
This was stated by the chairman of the management board of the 'Goy' theatre, Sargis Arzumanyan, who along with several actors from the theatre, began a sit-in protest yesterday and spent the whole night outside the theatre entrance.
He remarked, "The door says 'respectable', but when you sit under that 'respectable' word to express your disagreement and protest, they don't come to sit, talk, or understand that something needs to happen for the benefit of both sides," showing a writing posted on the closed door of the theatre, in which Sundukyan theatre's management suggests that the 'respected' employees of the Goy theatre use the service entrance.
According to Sargis Arzumanyan, he has received many calls and messages from colleagues since yesterday. He hopes that their protest will also join the audience, and together they will reach a point where the ministry cancels the decision to merge theatres and allows the 'Goy' theatre to be independent.
He explained, "The purpose of this sit-in is to unite like-minded people beside me. Today, people will come who are ready to act instead of just making comments on Facebook and other platforms. We will try to collaborate with those people."
It is noteworthy that the actors began an indefinite sit-in in front of the 'Goy' theatre on April 3, protesting the ministry's decision to merge the 'Goy' theatre with the G. Sundukyan National Academic Theatre.
