Newborn Death Case in Yerevan: Couple Blames Doctor

On April 3, SHAMSHYAN.com was approached by 37-year-old Vitali Abrahamyan, a resident of the city of Tashir in the Lori region, who directed his anger towards certain doctors at Yerevan's 'Maternal and Child Health Research Center,' commonly known as the 'Margaryan' maternity hospital.

V. Abrahamyan stated, 'We have waited for 2 months for good news from the 'Margaryan' hospital. Two months ago, we brought my 24-year-old wife, Asia Shahnazaryan, to this center due to the threat of premature birth. I have been informed about her condition every day, and she never had any health issues. We even confirmed that we were expecting twin girls.'

'We had chosen names for the children, purchased essential supplies for our little ones, but on April 2, at 1 AM, I tried to get information from the hospital, including from the obstetrician Sona Abelyan, about my wife and the children. However, I received no results. Hours later, after numerous phone calls, I was informed that one of the children was stillborn, and the other child and my wife’s life was hanging by a thread. We were astonished and outraged as to why they didn’t perform a caesarean section. If they had done so, both the child would have lived, and my other child and wife wouldn’t be fighting for their lives now.'
