Opposition Members of Yerevan Council Demand Resignation of Greenery Committee Head
According to the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, "Opposition members of the Yerevan City Council are demanding the resignation of Armen Begoyan, the head of the city's greenery committee. It is worth recalling that just days ago, on March 24, an incident took place in downtown Yerevan between members of the council's 'National Progress' faction and the head of the greenery committee, Armen Begoyan, along with other employees.
Two members of the 'National Progress' faction, Hayk Grigoryan and Robert Tsovyan, had noticed another tree being cut down on Tumanian Street in Yerevan and approached to demand clarification. However, as the council members recounted in conversations with us, the greenery committee employees attacked them and struck them, while the committee head, Armen Begoyan, insulted them.
"Zhoghovurd" has learned that council opposition members have recently submitted an official request to Mayor Tigran Avinyan demanding the dismissal of Armen Begoyan. "We submitted the request two days ago to Tigran Avinyan. We demand that Armen Begoyan's activities be suspended and a service investigation be launched regarding the incident," council member Hayk Grigoryan told "Zhoghovurd".
