Xi Jinping and Biden Hold Phone Conversation: Topics Discussed Revealed

The President of China, Xi Jinping, has held a phone conversation with U.S. President Joe Biden, according to Global Times.

Chinese media report that the leaders discussed bilateral relations. American media, citing an anonymous representative of the Biden administration, note that Xi and Biden addressed the situation in Ukraine and the issue of Taiwan during their conversation. Moreover, they explored the "risks associated with the development of artificial intelligence" and discussed cybersecurity.

Associated Press also highlights that Biden raised the topic of "China's defense relations with Russia" during the call and urged "Beijing to use its influence over North Korea" in order to restrain Pyongyang.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen are set to visit China in the coming weeks, as reported by American media.

Associated Press points out that this was Xi Jinping and Biden's first conversation since last November, when the leaders were negotiating in California.
