Opposition Mayors of Ankara and Istanbul Lead Local Elections
The mayors of Ankara and Istanbul, Mansur Yavaş and Ekrem İmamoğlu, representing the opposition Republican People's Party, are leading the local elections held in Turkey on March 31.
It is noted that İmamoğlu is gathering 49.52% of the votes, while Yavaş is receiving 56.24%.
Recall that the local government elections took place today in Turkey. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan urged his supporters not to leave the polling stations until the vote counting is complete, emphasizing the need to protect the "will of the people."
It is reported that the ruling party aims to regain administrative control in the regions where the opposition representatives are in power, particularly in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir.
