China's Economy Expected to Surpass America's by 2035
By 2035, China's economy is expected to become the largest in the world, surpassing the United States, according to a report by TASS citing the Chunyang Financial Research Institute affiliated with Renmin University of China. This scenario is plausible if the People's Republic of China maintains an annual GDP growth rate of around 5 percent or at least above 4 percent in the coming years until 2035, the report states.
The study, co-authored by scientists from India, Canada, China, Russia, and the USA, notes that China's economic growth rates exceed those of the U.S. Moreover, the yuan continues to strengthen on the international stage, and its level of internationalization is increasing.
“Emerging economies will become the main drivers of global economic growth in the future, and their rapid growth could double global GDP in the next decade,” the report titled “China's Hard Numbers: China’s Quality Development and the 2035 Forecast” states.
As of 2023, China’s GDP grew by 5.2%, reaching ¥126 trillion (approximately $17.7 trillion), while the U.S. GDP grew by 2.5%, totaling $26.39 trillion.
